Big names confirmed for Hong Kong Open

Patrick Reed, Graeme McDowell and Victor Dubuisson are the latest big names to confirm their participation at the UBS Hong Kong Open.

The trio join fellow Ryder Cup stars Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson in the event at the Hong Kong Golf Club from October 22-25 in what will be the 57th staging of the tournament.

World number 18 Reed revealed that he is looking forward to playing against a world-class field in the Far East as he looks to add a more global feel to his schedule in the coming months.

He said: “I am very excited to announce that I have added the UBS Hong Kong Open to my schedule. I have been looking forward to putting together a truly global schedule and adding the UBS Hong Kong Open certainly does that.”

Northern Irishman McDowell is also keen to play in Fanling having come close to victory on his previous visits to the venue and he is hoping that luck will be on his side this October.

He stated: “I’m not sure you can ever say that a venue ‘owes’ you anything, but I have had some really good results there and it would be pretty sweet to get a win there after going close on a couple of occasions.”

Frenchman Dubuisson is also looking forward to returning to the tournament where he missed the cut in 2012 and the 25-year-old believes he is now capable of going back and winning the event.

“I last played at Fanling in 2012,” he said. “I shot 74 in the first round and remember being quite frustrated but the next day I shot 69 and thought I had done enough to make the cut, but eventually I was one shot out.

“On that second day I realised how to play the course, so I am looking forward to going back to play better and hopefully try to win the tournament.”
