Tiger Woods: ‘I would love to play a full schedule in 2018’

Tiger Woods is keen to play as many times as possible next year but will listen to his body before teeing it up.

Woods, who turned 42 on Saturday, questioned whether he had a future in the game earlier this year after being forced to undergo yet more back surgery.

However, after months of rehabbing, he was back in action at the Hero World Challenge earlier in December and appeared to swing his clubs pain-free.

The 14-time major winner looked surprisingly sharp for someone who had been away from the action for so long and was hitting if further off the tee than some of the players 15 years his junior.

It remains to be seen whether he can ever get back to the level that saw him dominate the sport for more than decade, but the Florida resident is hoping to play as much golf as possible over the next 12 months, fitness permitting.

“I would love to play a full schedule in 2018,” he said. “What that entails, including back-to-back events, I don?t know.

“I just have to continue to work on my body and game and see where I pan out. I wish I knew where I was going to play and when I was going to play – it?s a lot easier to prep for that – but we really don?t know.”
