Singh names 12 to take on Europe

Captain Jeev Milkha Singh has unveiled his line-up to take on Darren Clarke’s dozen in next month’s EurAsia Cup.

The team is made up of the leading four available Asian players from the 2015 Asian Tour Order of Merit as of December 14 and the top four eligible and available Asian players from the Official World Golf Ranking.

That means Asian Tour number one Anirban Lahiri of India will lead their charge along with Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand, India’s SSP Chowrasia, Japan’s Shingo Katayama, Malaysia’s Danny Chia, Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand, and Korean duo KT Kim and Byeong Hun An.

Singh also has four captain’s picks and has gone for Malaysian Nicholas Fung, China’s Wu Ashun, Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand and Korean Jeung Hun Wang to make up his 12 stars.

And the 43-year-old winner of the 2012 Scottish Open is confident that his men have what it takes to bring home the bacon.

“I believe we have assembled a very strong team capable of defeating Team Europe after the thrilling 10-10 draw in 2014,” he said. “That will be our mission next month – to win the EurAsia Cup.”

Clarke’s European side is also strong with seven Englishman – Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Danny Willett, Ross Fisher, Chris Wood, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Andy Sullivan – plus France’s Victor Dubuisson, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, Bernd Wiesberger of Austria, Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen and Swede Kristoffer Broberg.
