Australia’s Adam Scott is confident he can make a strong start to the PGA Tour season when he plays in the CIMB Classic this weekend.

The former world number one only just missed out on a win last time around when he missed a two-putt birdie on his final hole.

He had the chance to force a play-off but America’s Justin Thomas eventually held on to claim his maiden PGA Tour title victory.

Scott then secured five top-10 finishes in his next seven starts and the world number six is confident he can hit the ground running again this weekend.

“It’s nice to be able to have this event with FedExCup points, and next week HSBC Champions (World Golf Championships), and try and get off to a bit of a flyer,” he told reporters.

“There is another good field here this week, so it is going to be tough and (you) need to play some good golf.”
