Shane Lowry seeking to reverse rankings slide

Shane Lowry is looking to find some consistency and start climbing the rankings when he plays 11 tournaments in the next 15 weeks.

The 30-year-old Irishman has endured a disappointing start to 2017 with just two top-20 finishes and two missed cuts in his seven appearances to date, which has resulted in him sliding down the rankings.

However, Lowry is looking forward to a hectic schedule which gets underway at the Wells Fargo Championship and ends up at the season’s final major, the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow between August 7-13.

Included in that run of tournaments is the US Open at Erin Hills in June, the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in July, The Players’, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Irish Open.

It will give Lowry an opportunity to get some FedEx Cup points on the board and some Race to Dubai points so he is hopeful he can rediscover his best form. If you’re confident he can do just that why not put a bet on it? To get your money’s worth, why not consider the 12BET Sign Up Bonus

Speaking to the Irish Times at the launch of the ‘One for Ireland’ campaign, Lowry said: “I know in the past this is the time of season where I start to play well so I’m just hoping it’s the same this year. My good weeks have always been in the middle of the season, so I need to just keep my head down and keep doing what I’m doing.

“I feel like I’m doing the right things. I don’t think there are any drastic changes that need to be made or anything that needs to be done.”

Lowry added: “I’m out there trying my best. It’s not happening for me now but I know it will, I know all I need to do is keep going. I know I’m good enough and my golf is good enough and that at some stage it’ll turn around.

“For golfers it’s quite a lonely world. Obviously I’ve got people around me that travel sometimes but he’s a guy called Gerry Hussey who’s actually heavily involved in mental health. He’s just someone who I can talk to, someone who’s outside of my inner circle that I feel like I can talk to and open up.

“I’m not saying I don’t have any problems, I’m quite a happy go lucky person, that’s how I try to live my life, but you know, his philosophy is trying to live your life as a good a person as you can and then your sport and your career will take care of itself.”
