Sergio Garcia not thinking of Masters

Sergio Garcia says he isn’t thinking about the Masters just yet but feels he can challenge at Augusta.

Garcia picked up his only major win to date by claiming the Masters title two years ago but missed the cut as defending champion last year, having tied the record for most strokes on a hole in Masters history by shooting a 13 on the 15th hole in the first round.

The 39-year-old says he isn’t looking ahead to the first major of the year just yet but, having claimed the title once, he knows he is capable of doing so again.

“I won’t starting thinking about Augusta until after Austin [the Match Play championship two weeks before the Masters],” Garcia told Augusta.com. “I’m not going to lie, it comes to your mind. But you’re not out there thinking every single shot, ‘is this an Augusta shot?'”

He added: “Of course, I’ve done it [won the Masters]. That kind of tells you everything.

“It’s a great feeling going there knowing you’ve done it and you’re going to be a past champion for the rest of your life. It’s very exciting.”
