Willett relishing GB Masters debut

Englishman Danny Willett says he is relishing the prospect of taking part in his first ever British Masters.

The Sheffield-born 28-year-old has not yet featured in the competition, with the tournament set for it’s first appearance on the calendar since 2008.

Willett turned professional that year and he has come a long way in the sport and currently sits inside the top 25 in the world rankings.

Having grown up watching the event, Willett is looking forward to mixing it up with some big names for the event at Woburn and is glad to see the competition return.

He was quoted on Sky Sports, saying: “I haven’t played. The first year I got my card, or I turned pro in 2008 and got my card. It was one of the ones you always wanted to play. It would have been just down the road from me at The Belfry.

“It’s good. It’s what’s been needed for a couple of years. There was talk of putting it back on a couple years ago and that fizzled out and there was talk of this being on, and it’s pulled through and so far it’s been a great week.”
