Woods still hoping for more majors

Tiger Woods has not given up winning more majors, even though he admits he faces a “tedious and long” recovery from back surgery.

Woods has won 14 of golf’s biggest prizes but his last major came back in 2008 at the US Open, with the American being beset by problems in his private life and a series of injuries since then.

The 39-year-old has admitted he faces a tough time as he attempts to be fit again following a troublesome back injury. but he is not giving up yet on getting closer to Jack Niklaus’ all-time major record of 18.

“It’s important for me to have more than 18 majors when all is said and done,” Woods said. “It took Jack his whole career to achieve it and mine is not done yet.

“I believe that I have a very good record for 20 years on the Tour. The main thing is to get fit and to reach my 40s with good health.

“It’s something that I hope I will be able to do. I want to play at an elite level with the new kids for a long, long time.”

However, Woods is well aware how difficult it will be for him as he battles back from another operation.

He added: “Rehab will be soon, and it will be tedious and long.”
