Sweden’s Alex Noren is through to the Paul Lawrie Match Play final after defeating England’s James Morrison 3&2.

Noren quickly found himself 4UP after seven holes and looked to be on course for a routine victory in the semi-final contest at Archerfield Links Golf Club in North Berwick.

However, Morrison was in no mood to roll over and halved the deficit after finding birdies at the ninth and 10th to put the pressure back onto his opponent.

But, Sweden’s number two, who won the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open last month, picked up his performance over the next couple of holes and moved three ahead with just five to play.

The 34-year-old was then able to make three consecutive pars and book his place in the final of the European Tour event, where he will take on Englishman Anthony Wall.

The 41-year-old was involved in a terrific battle against compatriot Oliver Fisher and the duo were forced to play extra holes after they finished all-square after the first 18.

Finally, at the end 22nd hole, Wall managed to hole a brilliant putt to record the victory and move into the final where the impressive Noren awaits.

The experienced Englishman has not picked up a win on the European Tour since the 2000 Alfred Dunhill Championship while his Swedish opponent is looking to complete a Scottish double.
