Rickie Fowler is looking forward to competing in the World Cup of Golf after replacing fellow American Bubba Watson.

The coveted event takes place from November 24-27 at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Australia as some of the world’s top golfers look to clinch victory for their country.

Australia’s Jason Day and Adam Scott won the team competition three years ago while the former also lifted the individual title, although there will only be a team format this time.

The USA were supposed to have Jimmy Walker partnering Watson but the two-time Masters champion was forced to pull out due to scheduling and personal issues.

Fowler has been named as Watson’s replacement and he is excited to represent his country once again after competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

“Coming off the amazing experience that I had at the Olympics, it?s great to have the chance to put on the red, white and blue again and play for the United States in the World Cup of Golf,” he said.

“Jimmy is not only one of my favourite guys out here on Tour, but he is clearly one of the most talented players on our Tour as well.”

Lee Westwood and Danny Willett will represent England.
