The Swede is preparing to lead her side against the USA at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Germany and, ahead of the tournament getting underway on Friday, she has been speaking to several people well placed to offer advice.

As well as discussing things with McGinley, who led the men to Ryder Cup glory at Gleneagles last year, Koch has also spoken to Liselotte Neumann, who skippered Team Europe when they won the Solheim Cup in 2013.

Koch told Sky Sports: “I think Liselotte Neumann did a great job in the last Solheim Cup in Colorado, and I’ll try to copy some of the things she did as well as doing my own thing.”

“I’ve also learned a few important things from speaking to Paul McGinley. Obviously he was a great Ryder Cup captain last year.”

Fellow Swedes Sophie Gustafson and Maria McBride will be Koch’s non-playing assistants in Germany over the weekend, while the likes of Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, British star Melissa Reid and Frenchwoman Gwladys Nocera are included in the European side.

Leading Team USA is 31-time LPGA Tour winner Juli Inkster, who has named Stacy Lewis and Lexi Thompson among her side for the team battle.
