Alex Noren won the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player by six shots thanks in large to an impressive final-round 63 on Sunday.

The 34-year-old Swede started the day six shots adrift of overnight leader Jeunghun Wang following a nightmare round of 75 on Saturday.

However, Noren carded an eagle, eight birdies and a solitary bogey to finish on 14-under-par – six clear of Wang, whose round of 75 left him in second spot and one stroke clear of Ricardo Gouveia, Alejandro Canizares, Victor Dubuisson, Branden Grace, on home soil in South Africa, and England’s Andy Sullivan.

The victory was Noren’s fourth on the European Tour this year and moved him up to third in the Race to Dubai Rankings.

His fellow Swede Henrik Stenson still leads the rankings but missed his chance to virtually seal the title as he finished eighth on six under. Second-placed Danny Willett ensured he stays in the race ahead of next week’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship with a 69 to end on three-under.

In addition to Stenson, Willett and Noren, Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is also still in with a chance to win the Race to Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
