England’s Paul Casey sits one-shot clear at the top of the standings heading into the final day of the Valspar Championship.

The 41-year-old shot a three-under-par 68 in Saturday’s third round at Palm Harbor, Florida, to stay one shot clear of Dustin Johnson.

Casey could have been further ahead but a final-hole bogey kept him within touching distance of the world number one.

Johnson made his rival pay for the mistake as he birdied the last to finish the day on eight-under after a round of 67 – his best of the week so far.

American Jason Kokrak, who claimed a hole-in-one on the 15th, sits third on seven-under, while Luke Donald is one further back in fourth.

South African Louis Oosthuizen boosted his chances of challenging for the title, matching Kokrak’s round with a five-under 66, and he sits in a tie for sixth.
